About the event

On Friday, 25 September 2026, the DOIT Centre welcomed fourth-year pupils from the Gastronomy and Tourism programme at Srednja šola Izola (Izola Secondary School). They began by exploring the space itself. It was designed and equipped by Ljubljana Tourism, together with professionals, as a showcase of Ljubljana, and it includes reused LPP city bus seats and sounds of the city. The space showed them how design alone can shape the visitor experience. They then saw how the centre's equipment is used, through three examples from project work:

  • 360-degree cameras for creating a virtual walk through geopark heritage,
  • a 3D capture camera used to create a photorealistic 3D model of Turistica,
  • virtual cycling, which we use to promote cycling destinations and which the pupils could try for themselves.

The visit also included a presentation of Turistica's study programmes. This was followed by an interactive lecture and workshop on strategic tourism planning, delivered by Dr Miha Bratec and Tilen Nipič as part of UP Researchers' Night. The event also brought third-grade primary school pupils to the DOIT Centre.
