Pricing a new tourism offer

About the programme

At the start of their business journey, or when launching a new tourism product, entrepreneurs face the question of how to set a price. A price that is too low can put the business at risk, while one that is too high makes it harder to enter the market. In the workshop, participants will learn about approaches to pricing and the role of price in positioning a tourism offer on the market.

The workshop will help participants understand how customers judge prices and how a provider can present the price as part of the offer as a whole. Participants will gain practical starting points for setting prices deliberately, so that their decisions are not based merely on copying competitors or on intuition.

Programme content

  • Factors in tourism pricing
  • How do we set a price based on costs, competition and the value customers perceive in the offer?
  • Communicating the benefits and distinctive advantages that justify the price of an offer
  • Pricing for different customer segments
  • Pricing strategies for new tourism products

Learning outcomes

After the training, participants:

  • recognise what information they need for pricing decisions when entering the market,
  • can judge whether a proposed price covers costs and matches the value target customers perceive in the offer,
  • can present the offer so that customers understand what they get for the price,
  • recognise when and how to adjust the initial price in response to customer feedback,
  • can adapt the offer and the price to individual customer segments.
